Alfa Giulietta, good buy?
Discussion
Been eyeing up a post 2013 Giulietta, 175bhp variant for a daily driver. I'm reading mixed opinions on reliability, however most major issues seem to be pre 2013 models.
Anyone owned one and can comment? Performance seems reasonable with a 7.8s 0 to 60. Interiors seem well kitted out, not sure if they have Android Auto however, but the driving experience is supposedly good in sport mode. I love the looks of them too and just seems like a nice change from the usual Golf, Audi etc.

My 2014 Giulietta QV line has similar engine and is just short of 60,000 and have never had a mechanical problem with it and entirely reliable. Everything still works as it should and the engine still feels as new.
The only issue I've had is a couple of broken interior door handles which seems a common thing but easily resolved.

My father has the 1.4 multiair which I assume is the one you’re looking at? Performance is very decent for the engine size. Best to drive it in dynamic mode as it tends to feel artificially restricted in the other lower modes. His is a 2011 car and in that time only problems were a faulty gear position sensor which didn’t affect performance, it just disabled selection of the other drive modes and some broken wires in the tailgate which is a common problem on them but an easy enough fix. Otherwise no issues and a nice car to drive.
My friend is a Sales Rep. and bought a nearly new diesel Giulietta of this vintage, colleagues mostly laughed at her and trotted out all the old stereotypes etc. She ran the car for about four years, did approximately 25k - 30k miles per year and it never missed a beat.
I drove it a few times, found it a comfortable, stylish and good handling car for what it was. Would confidently recommend one.

Typical Alfa then of the last 30 years. I drove it a few times, found it a comfortable, stylish and good handling car for what it was. Would confidently recommend one.
Good afternoon all. I recently bought a 2017 Giullieta with 70k miles on the clock but the car feels like new to me, and really like it. I do have a couple of things to ask if anyone knows the answer to them. I got the red break calipers so assume they are the most sporty brakes, but most of the times the do a grinding noise, I had them checked and nothing wrong was found so can't understand why. Also the steering sometimes it does not correct it's self to go back into straight feels like it stucks in a small angle, could it be because if the ran flat tyres? Thank you

It means you have the Brembo calipers, it could be a stone in between the brake pads, not had the steering issue.
Have you had your alignment checked?
Thank you! I have arranged to have the steering checked next week. The brake thing is weird as it was checked again and nothing was found, it was passed MOT before I buy it and there was no advisories etc but let's see.Have you had your alignment checked?
Now trying to get used to the pedal set up cause sometimes I do push the gas too. And need to do something with the plastic pads on the pedals, they are almost completely worn out and are very slippery now

Funnily enough we had a stone caught in our caliper the other week, made a terrible noise and ruined the disc wearing a deep groove into it. Worth checking, very obvious if it's on the outside.Have you had your alignment checked?
