I've currently got a 66 reg VW Polo BlueGT which is good as it does around 45mpg with enough poke to have fun. But I'm worried about the potential price crash. I'm looking to sell it in a year/year and a half probably but not sure if I should be looking to sell it now whilst prices are high and buy something cheaper for that time period (1 year - 1.5 years) or hang on to it and see what happens to the markets?

If you had a £80k car and were worried it might crash heavily then I'd understand but it sounds like you've got a modest car that does a good job and is frugal to run... It may drop a few £k but if you sell it and buy a shed you could easily spend that 'saving' just trying to keep it on the road, on worse mpg and/or the saving vs sacrifice of comfort might not be worth it for you.

That is a good point. I was only contemplating going into something around the 4-5k mark that's just bog standard really like a fiesta ecoboost, fabia SE, etc.

You have a sensible, petrol, ULEZ-exempt small car that is relatively inexpensive and economical. Demand for that kind of car should be pretty robust with all sorts of drivers and values comparatively strong.

It works as an only car, a commuter car, first car etc. - there are all sorts of potential buyers, even if the country keeps disintegrating. I’m in the process of changing jobs and it’s one of the cars I’ve been considering as a commuting car…

I found it relatively challenging to sell my VW a few months back, but that was a Passat R36 Estate with £615 tax and 26.9mpg official economy. Your Polo has a slightly broader market!

Keep it, in reality if there is a price crash (I don't see it, at worst there'll be a small drop) a frugal small car will drop the least.

Yup had plenty of these on my current car for sale. I simply reply with: Motorway have offered me £7,350 so unless you can beat that I'm afraid it'll be sold to them when the advert expires.

Never get another response after that!

Next time I'm putting Motorway offer actually in the advert I think...
