Addicted to buying cheap sheds, anyone else? Losing money

I usually buy a car run it until mot runs out and scrap it or sell it on at a loss.

Last car I brought cost 500£, I spent 100 on service items. Scrap price is 460. Chances are in 5 months when mot is due I will scrap it (if I don't think it will pass)

Car before this I brought for 480, it had 6 months MOT. I used it until mot ran out and scrapped it for 350. I didn't buy any service items.

Car before the car before cost £500 I spent 50£ on service items. Ran it for 6 months then scrapped it for £450.

Over the space of 2 years or so I have lost around 500£. I could have cut my losses but for some reason a week before MOT time something not failing happens to the car (happened the last 2 times) broken windshield, broken coolant hose, abs lights.

Anyone else have this problem? If I had more space I would probably buy 100 more sheds.

Umm, depreciation? If you turn it round in your head that the last two years has cost you 500 quid to experience multiple cars, it's a little better. For 99% of humans, cars cost money.

£500 loss across three cars in two years? You can get a fair chunk of that back by seaching under the seats and all the various cubby holes for loose change before you part with them.

I've not quite gone that cheap with sheds, but as pricing of cars (and everything in general) continues to raise... it's either raise with it, or crash and burn, which I feel like doing, i.e. spending as less as possible. eBay auctions are definitely the only way to get a bargain now from what I can see.

Traditionally, yes. But these days if you buy right you can quite easily run a car for a year, sell it and be £5k up. (Defenders, RRS, GR Yaris etc….).

Last year this wasn't a problem but any extra money being spent now is huge.

Also addicted to sheds, but mainly my enjoyment is the hunt of a ‘bargain’ - once I’ve bought it, I get bored quickly.

Got worse when I’ve not lost on the last couple of cars I’ve moved on.

There are so many cars to try, no point on sticking with one.

Pickings around shed budget are getting slimmer though recently, but still enjoy it. Just picked up a Z4 and starting to fiddle with it as a winter project
