DVLA V5 - Delays?

I've recently changed cars, which has been a right faff with private plate removals etc. Basically, bought the new car 2 weeks ago and did the V5 changeover online - then a few days later took my private plate off my old car onto retention, also online.
Normally a V5 is a few days in experience when doing this online, I've not had anything back on either car yet! It's a pain as I've got a buyer for the old car, but no V5.
Anyone else experienced this lately, or have I fallen into a crack somehow?

Similar to the above - mate did a plate change online a couple of weeks back and new paperwork arrived 4 days later.
Royal Mail strikes may now be starting to cause delays, as i've posted a few (non DVLA) items over the last 2 weeks and some arrived within 2 days, but a couple of others took between to 7 - 10 days to arrive depending on where they'd gone in the UK.

You can see on the dvla tax check when the last v5 was issued.
I did a plate change and sale in September, both updated almost instantly. My purchase however took a few weeks to update.
Mate in the trade said dealers are holding onto V5s then back dating due to the rise of awareness of 30 day rejections and distance selling / click and collect rise.

Could well be down to Royal Mail now as opposed to DVLA especially if all done online.
I bought a new car on the 14th November which involved putting a plate on retention then getting the dealer to put that one on the new car - within 8 days I think ,the V5 for the old car ( new reg ), V5 for the new car , tax refund , confirmation of sale (partex to dealer ) and retention certificate had all arrived.

IME it varies, I do mine every Friday and usually do 15-20 at a time. Some people will have them within a few days and others can take up to 2 weeks to appear even though they were all done online at the same time. Normally a V5 is a few days in experience when doing this online, I've not had anything back on either car yet! It's a pain as I've got a buyer for the old car, but no V5.
