Any option better than this?

Been looking to upgrade to a new car and think I have settled on a Mk7.5 Golf GTD as it seems to fit all my requirements perfectly coming from a standard MK6 that has been very reliable. Just wondering if I’ve missed any other cars to consider.
- Budget is around £15k
- Has to be automatic
- Good fuel consumption due to doing 15-20k miles a year
- Under 8 seconds 0-60
Have also considered an Audi A4 of a similar age but the technology on the GTD seems to be a lot better

Probably not to be fair.
If I'm being picky, wouldn't a mk7.5 Golf GTD at that price point be kind of high-ish mileage? Like around 70,000+ miles? I mean, it'd probably be alright, these diesel engines can reliably clock up mileages in excess of 300k.
I guess the Seat Leon FR TDI is essentially the same car at a lower price, not sure how it compares spec-wise though

As a left-field option, there is also the Alfa Romeo Giulietta, again at a fraction of the price of a Golf GTD. On the other hand, they are quite dated in terms of tech, etc

Thanks for the reply, I did have a look at both of those options but the golf to me looks a lot more modern inside than both with the virtual dash and bigger screen alongside a bit more tech

Octavia Vrs has gotta be hard to beat for this criteria, no?
If i’n not mistaken it’ll use the same engine as the Golf GTD so hit 55ish mpg. As is often the case with VAG, you’ll get a slightly newer, lower mileage and better specced car for the money with Skoda over VW equivalent.

At that price point I'd find it hard to look past an Infiniti Q30 Sport (they're the previous gen GLA/A Class in all but the metal) they'll have a nicer interior than the Golf lower miles Mercedes reliability & more kit, oh & most are AWD too.- Budget is around £15k

What tech does the Golf have? Any A4 from 2016 or later will have Android Auto/Car Play, DAB, cruise control etc, and then the options list included heads up display, virtual dash, navigation, reversing camera, adaptive cruise control, multicoloured in car LEDs etc. It's more about finding the right car with the right options, as some of them have all the tech you could want, even if the basic model is a bit, well, basic.
I’m coming towards the end of my 3 yr lease in a ‘69 reg GTD and its been faultless for motorway driving. Has all the tech you need as standard - MY19 models even came with a few extras like reversing cam, adaptive led’s and lane assistance. Granted, I can’t wait to get back into a petrol as it’s very annoying with regens for short journeys (working from home recently!).
But like a poster said above, you’ll be hard cut to find a mk7.5 in your budget. I’d rather get cleaner, lower mileage mk7. They still have active cruise control and ‘16> models have extras like carplay/aa. The only negative I see is the 6spd DSG gearbox compared to the 7spd in the mk7.5, but I haven’t read of any specific problems if serviced on schedule. No virtual dash but the novelty went away pretty quickly for myself.
Also agree the Leon FR with the same engine output is better value for money. Not as nice inside, but then if you want better a interior I’d rather go for an A4 or even a 320d. The 8spd ZF box in the beemers are brill.
I also wouldn’t rule out a lower powered petrol turbo. Something like a A3 1.4 TFSI 150 sport should be around your budget.
