Selling a £600 car, buyer wanted my full log book? Scam?

He wanted my full logbook and did not want to give me his details. He said with the green slip he can not tax (i know this is bogus)

I told him to do one. Was he trying to scam me? or am i being paranoid

Is the car taxed?, if so maybe he didn’t want to register the owner change and tax it

Yes, because unless you do the process as prescribed by the DVLA they won't know that you've sold it and that he's the new owner.

You fill in the online form with his details ( https://www.gov.uk/sold-bought-vehicle/y) and he gets the New Keeper supplement of the current V5. And that's it.
Anything else and he can get stuffed.

Thanks for the confirmation. This is the first time a buyer has asked to do this adn he was shady. I told him to get fked

In today’s world people have become so dumb I’m surprised see he didn’t also Insist on free delivery, a full tank of fuel and 6m warranty for his £600 piece of scrap.

He said he wanted to "drive it to work tomorrow". He said he couldn't tax it without the old log book number.

If he was honest maybe I would have sold it to him.
