As the title suggests, I'm looking for a 2 door sports car under £20k.

I'm very keen on the Toyota GT86 as it ticks nearly all the boxes but the fact it's so slow is quite off-putting for a sports car.

Z4 e89 is another option but that's more of a grand tourer than a sports car.

Any other options people can think of? I've already had a 986 Boxster and I'm looking for something a bit newer.

Cheers

M235i. Just the right size, rwd, comes in convertible, can easily be a *billion bhp if you want to play with it.

May have exaggerated the last point hehe

MX5 probably a call call and cheaper to run than a boxster however the boxster is a great handling car for the money and sounds great too

This thread might help with the soft top options discussion.

You could add quite a lot more into the mix without the need for looking at the sky. From a 370z to various BMWs etc. If I had a £20k budget I personally wouldnt be going for a GT86.

the best boxster or cayman you can afford.

a 986 boxster is a good starting point, but a 3.4 987.2 S will be quite a bit different, a lot more modern.

Presumably the 987.2 still can have the IMS and RMS issues or was that fixed for the gen 2?

Some decent choices there and with good horsepower on offer seems a good choice

I was going to suggest a 370Z - V6 and RWD.

Woah that’s cheap. Is it a previous write off/high mileage ? Don’t see many half decent ones for under £25k… he says with a half decent one and looking to possibly sell in spring for around £25k 🤣

For the OP, I wouldn’t suggest an f type at this price point.

Was about to say, yeah that is cheap for an F type. This going to sound nitpicky but I don’t want something too posh. If only the GT86 was faster or the GR86 was cheaper….

I'd suggest an MX-5ND2 2litre with the revised 2.0 (184) engine. I've had mine for over 2 and a half years.. It's a keeper too smile
ND1 have the older engine (158)

I’d suggest the offer of an F-type for £20k is worth a look and a conversation, don’t disregard it straight away.

I’d also suggest a TVR Chimaera. Buy on condition, so much presence and character!
