So...
all the talking and now the time has come...
Our Mondeo which we bought 5 months ago has yet another fault so is going back to the dealer to sell it back. Sick to death of the damned thing.
We're going to add that cash and trade in our 56 plate caravelle (unless we sell it privately) and get a newer one. Looking at an edition25 one which suits us nicely.
This then puts us down to one vehicle. But the new caravelle will be mostly the wifes daily driver - school run/club runs/shopping etc But we'll use it as the family wagon at weekends, dog cage in the boot etc which is what we love about our current Caravelle. It just does everything.
Anyway.
My car.
Now my office is quite close but I'm not likely to cycle in every day.
I have to go to head office one a month and that's 150 miles each way.
We're spending the majority of our cash on the Caravelle so i'm keen to stick to around £5000
my aim is to get something that'll see me through the next 6-12 months. See what happens this year with sales (I work on commission) and either replace it, or keep it going if I find it's doing what i'm after.
Trouble i'm having is I want everything and that doesn't exist and certainly not at the money I want to spend.
I'm keen to have automatic, I had a hip replaced and the head office trip hurts in a manual so that's set in stone.
What I can't decide on is what else I want, what else is important.
If we're all together, we'll likely take the van. If I need to go get something that's big, Van. So it's really just to get me to the offices, few sales trips
I like an estate, but I don't want a dull car. The office drive would drive me nuts in a 0-60 in 3 days type vehicle, so I do want some oompf
I think petrol would be better as day-to-day the main office drive is quite short, and petrol is so much cheaper than diesel.
What would you suggest?

335i and just run it into the ground?
or look more at the distance and get an A8?
or look more at the fact we've most bases covered with the van and get an S5?
