Lotus Exige Stablemate - Auto, Petrol, Estate, c.£3k

As much as it pains me to admit it, there have been a few times when running a Lotus Exige as my daily driver has its downsides.

I'm now looking for an occasional-use semi-shed to use for practical things. Intent would be to keep it until it dies.

• Automatic;
• Petrol;
• Estate (or large hatch at a push, but strong preference for an estate);
• Performance largely irrelevant;
• Limited bork factor and relatively cheap to run;
• Budget is c.£3k, but with a little bit of flex.
• Bonus points if they're close to RG40 or SG15 postcodes for the convenience of viewing/testing/buying factor.

I've been looking at Focus, Mondeo and Astra estates, but would welcome any other recommendations/linked suggestions.

Avensis or Accord would be my starting point for this.

Nissan Xtrail. qute fun to drive like a Focus, but 4wd. if it's your second car you may as well have someting that has a USP. Like 4wd. in all other respcts its is just like the focus really.
