Headed to Germany for work for 3-4 years. Currently driving a 2006 US-spec Honda Odyssey. I figure we will ditch the Odyssey and pick up something there. The transit time to ship the van will be months, and it is an old beater that I don't know if it could pass a German inspection without a fair amount of money spent. The European minivan market was not previously something I have ever paid attention to. My budget will probably be around 10k Euros, I guess. So I assume I will be looking at vehicles from around +/-2010. We are a family of 5, and will have regular family visitors.

The Odyssey it will be replacing seats 7 or 8, depending on whether you (easily) install the jump seat. 3.6L petrol engine with ~260hp, not sure how many horses have escaped. FWD, DVD movies in back, heated seats, power sliding doors, decent cargo space even with all the seats in use. Our van is an automatic, but a manual is fine. I am looking for something similar.

Can anyone make some recommendations?

Chrysler Grand Voyager? Had one as our family car when the kids were young. Not as well built as the Honda probably but simple and thousands still knocking around in NA, many with massive mileages on them. Would probably be a diesel over here. If petrol, one of those Toyota/Nissan Jap imports (Alphard)?
