Photoshop help please! Dakar RR inspired Jaaag project

Cutting a long story shortish...

After ten+ years of driving the main family car I've talked Mrs Bill into an SMax. We've had Discoveries 2+4 and a Subaru Tribeca (basically an ugly, 7 seat Outback) which have done the job well but been a bit worthy.

I still need a car capable of carrying 4 (ideally 5) and able to tow a 3/4 ton trailer on rough tracks and mud.

But I also want something that is interesting and preferably half decent to drive*. So far the modern options don't massively inspire me (Yeti, Kuga, Mini Countryman). An Outback is an obvious choice, but I've been there and done that. Foresters are rare, often auto and the 2.5 doesn't have the best reputation. The Land/Range Rover options (majoring on character rather than driving) are sodding expensive.

Obviously an actual Corniche is way out of budget, so I'm wondering about giving a Jag X-type saloon a subtle version of the same treatment. Mainly because they're cheap and AWD. I'm thinking a small lift, small wheels/slightly oversize tyres and a boot mounted spare, something subtle** enough that it'd pass most people by.

However they're also not as boxy as the RR so I'm not sure it'll pull it off, hence the need for help visualising it. Suggestions for other 3 box saloons with AWD are also appreciated.

*I realise the lift/tyres will affect the quality of drive, but this is more about interesting...

not awd and likely not a cheap endeavour, but the merc sel and sec are fairly popular conversion candidates out here in the sandpit.

If it’s any consolation that’s not an actual Corniche, it’s a fibreglass body on a space frame chassis.

I've talked about those in the past, but I'd hate to do it to something decent and don't have the budget anyway. Plus, the lane we live on is muddy most of the year so they'd dissolve in front of my eyes.

No, I definitely want a road car I can tow with when it gets a little bumpy rather than an actual 4x4. Although I'd have a RRC or Defender if the prices weren't so bonkers (Plus a shed.)

I know I started with a Jag, but I'm definitely looking at the cheaper, fun end of the scale rather than luxobarge.

Someone once told me the Volvo s40 shares architecture with the lancer, so can be made to take Evo running gear without much cutting, albeit Evo running gear ain’t cheap.
