Selling brand new ID3 through Motorway

Any thoughts from anyone familiar with Motorway?
Long story short:
Ordered ID3 Family pro performance with upgraded alloys in Oct 2021 and only getting delivered now. Not sure if I want it though.
The sales lady said VW wouldn't want it when I was chatting to her as they already have a few.
I'm paying £30k for it and Motorway are offering £32.5k for a 2022 version of the same car, used, with delivery miles, but how 'locked in' would that price be?
Maybe they would offer a bit more for a brand new 2023 but I can't even get a quote on a 2023 car so no idea.
For reference, you can pick up the same car on autotrader from VW dealers for £35k

The auction normally happens day after you have uploaded your photos etc..
Starts at 9:00 and ends at 15:00, you then get an email with the offer which you either accept or decline.
I have used Motorway 3 times to sell cars and every time have received more than the amount quoted and when cars have been collected there have been no attempts to reduce the price.

trouble with motorway is the price is a guide, it could be higher or lower, at the moment as far as I know real offerings are generally below their estimated guides.
In saying that there is absolutely no harm is going through with it and see what bids you get, like the poster above of you don't have to accept it.

Motorway aren't buying your car, they're providing you with an estimate that they think their dealers will likely reach in their bidding. Bidding normally finishes at 3PM and you're then able to accept or reject the offer.
You're taking a gamble if you go down this route, the upside is likely to be ~£2.5k profit. The downside? Who knows, maybe 1k or maybe 3k. You have the benefit that a private sale would likely not do too much worse than a dealer sale in terms of pricing as you've got the full warranty on the vehicle and therefore as long as the car is delivered with no non-warranty issues (bodywork damage, paint imperfections etc) then I'd expect you can get your money back with a slim profit on top.
The real question is, can you afford the gamble?

Try a different dealer.
I used motorway to offloadmy Tarraco, the dealer that ‘won’ the auction was a Skoda main dealer. When they arrived to collect i mentioned my surprise at a main dealer using the likes of Motorway, their response was they had to as their used stock had almost dried up. This was back in September ‘22 - made £6k on it after clearing finance.

If your current car is a petrol drinking escalade, that is perfectly understandable.As for Motorway, my single experience of them was very positive. I was happy with the quote, which was beaten in the bidding and no attempt to knock down at inspection. I'd use them again.
Just a word of caution from me. I think the car market as a whole has tipped.
I have just replaced my used Zoe with a Polo. In the VW dealer they had three new cars, pre-registered at a discount price. 2 polos and an ID5. They were all at a discount with the ID5 £8k off list.
Then coming to sell my Zoe, noone wanted it. Not the dealer we bought from and not WBAC. In the end my nephew bought it from the used car business be runs. He described the sentiment to electric cars at the moment as chopped liver.
So all anecdotal, but don't be over confident of overs on an ID3.

This for me too, they called me and told me the best offer. I accepted (no obligation), a driver turned up 2 days later and money was in the bank before they drove off.I just sold my Audi and did mortorway first, but WBAC actually gave me more! So, dropped it off in a car park at a WBAC portacabin, 5 mins later I was on my way home with a price agreed.
For a new car, they won’t knock down the offer.

Even the 3 times more efficient X6 is still drinking £300 a month on fuel
I dread to think what the Escalade would be drinking right now!
In other news - I've been emailing Motorway and they won't quote me anyway, due to the car being new. As mentioned earlier by someone, its officially used the moment I buy it, but still can't get a quote anyway when I look at more newer used ID3's on autotrader

I went through the Motorway process last year and was told the expected sale price was, say £9.5k, but they would want me to agree to accept anything over £8.6k (way below private sale money). The guy wouldn't proceed with the auction if I didn't agree to accept £8.6k so just cancelled it allFrankAbagnale said:
