What would you spend £55k on?

So, I have an M240i Xdrive on order, however it may be a 12 month wait and it got me thinking what else could I have for £55k (it's not too late to cancel my order).... I've had a very good mix of cars over the years from mx5's to mustangs, M3 V8, Fk8 Tyre R's etc.. Whilst the 240 will be a very quick car it may leave me a little cold. Elise / Exige are out of the question, as would be a nice Caymen as I need 4 seats.
I do 3-4 track days a year, so it will need to be a good steer and a bit exciting. Something nice to look at too/ perhaps a bit of affordable exotica. Don't want anything more than 2 years old though as like my toys... What's out there.

Cheers do like the masser for looks and sounds but the running costs might be a bit much plus I wouldn't want to trash it around a track 30-4 times a year, The e Evora not a bad shout - wonder if the prices will drive with the new Emira being out Otherwise your stuck with German mainstream saloons turned coupe... spoilt for choice in that realm...

The running costs on Maserati's are mostly myth. Yes you can get stung with a big bill, but most horror stories are third hand. Although I did do 6k on one in a year once.
A GT wouldn't be the best track car either, as it's far too heavy.
With a 55k budget, get a Lotus as a track car and something comfy like an SL for going to work.

Thanks for the info on the Masser, they do look and sound great. I'm after the grail though, one car to do it all. don't' want be running two cars Although I did do 6k on one in a year once.

Althought perhaps not helpful, I do have to question the 2 year old thing... I would take a driving experience over having "toys" everyday and in doing so you would open yourself up to a world of fantastic cars that fit the rest of your wants, and even better you can get a great car here that wont depreciate like a sinking ship like a new BMW will. With the few miles your doing anyway, what toys do you need??

Elaborate please, do you mean these driving days on track where the co-pilot presses the brakes for you and reigns you in or hiring a car for a few days per year? if the former then not really my thing. Genuinely open to suggestions Just think of a 911, Aston Martin Vantage V12, GTR, Lotus as already said is a good shout, here are just a few to consider.

No not at all, I think you have miss understood. If I had to choose between a 5 year old 911 @ £55k and a car no older than two years old @ 55K that had more toys. I would take the 911 everyday - Driving experience over a better infotainment device.

I understand, yes, that had crossed my mind, the only thing with the '2yr old' point I was trying to make (admittedly poorly) ,was not only has it more modern tech but also some with warranty. Cars that are 5-7 years old might need more money on upkeep. If I had to choose between a 5 year old 911 @ £55k and a car no older than two years old @ 55K that had more toys. Yes that is a consideration for sure. There are some good extended warranties. But also, with your milage you need to consider the total cost of ownership including deprecation, the depreciation on a new BMW I bet over 3 years will be more than most repairs on a 911.
I hear you on the TCO bit. The problem with Depreciations is that it was quite predictable before, I remember losing £15k on an V8 M3 over an 18 month period and I know that was what it would be. with supply and demand now, I'm finding it hard to predicate the deprecation curve (cash buyer), some cars are losing money, others are holding firm and others going up. much better looking in my opinion.
Had an M2C sandwiched between my FK8 civics, didn't really gel with it, perhaps I should have persevered longer than 8 weeks, also took it on track, just found it a bit skittish on the roads..
