We'll need a bit more than that to work with, what's your usage? Would a V8 & £600 tax be okay etc.

Body style? Any preference for 3,4 or 5 doors?

ULEZ an issue?

Jaguar X350 XJ6. Supremely comfortable, they waft great, handle really well and are far more reliable than a BMW, (plus they don’t rust).

How’s about an original, well looked after Jeep WJ Grand Cherokee? For your budget you’d get an absolute minter and the 4.0 petrol runs forever and they’re incredibly comfortable.

A Citroen C6? Again, amazingly comfortable and such a pretty car. Although it might not fit the ‘reliable’ part of your criteria? You could also consider an Alfa Romeo 166 if you’re feeling brave?

Or what about an Audi A8? Or a Citroen C6 with the 3.0 diesel V6? As long as it is on springs and shocks, (as opposed to hydraulic suspension), they’re pretty reliable.

Edited to add;

There’s a 2.6 V6 Vauxhall Omega with super low miles on eBay at the moment. These things are built like tanks and are also very, very comfortable cars to drive long distances in.
