Ive been watching a couple of these, including the one below with a view to one day but one.

All of a sudden this dealer added thousands to the price to a car that wasn't selling at £180k. Very odd

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/2022092802... Any ideas?

Possibly so that when a buyer turns up and offers £15k less they feel they have a good deal?

But people aren't stupid. If you're interested in a rare car, where there's only 5 rhd for sale, you're going to notice the price increase.

How does it compare price wise to the other four currently being advertised?

This, it may have been too cheap.

A few possible thoughts why:

The F430 Scuderia, like the 360 Challenge and 458 Speciale, is probably more in a rising than falling value phase anyway, so I would generally expect prices to rise over time.
It's spring, when there's more demand for fun cars, so the dealer (and/or owner if SOR) may think they can get more money. Half a dozen sports series McLarens had their asking prices increased a couple of weeks back.
They may have re-assessed where it sits relative to other cars on the market.
They may just be playing with the price, thinking perhaps by moving it up and down the car may be seen by different people in AT, as it appears in different price bracket searches and/or a different order in the listings. Or maybe they'll put it down again in a couple of weeks and claim it's a bargain.
The supercar market may be looking up a bit in general, hence support higher prices.

There's 3 at 170-180. And a yellow one, which are incredibly rare at 190.

All about perception.

I used to buy, repair & sell auction cars a few years ago.

I would usually price cars lower for a quicker sale, less profit - higher volume.

I found after a few sales that if I marked up the price a little they would sell quicker - I think the general tack on it was that if people saw the same car cheaper they would just assume there were issues.
Didn't bother me - meant I could do less and earn more.

I understand that with markets that have huge manufacturing numbers, but this sticks out like a saw thumb as there's so few of them. Also, no one in their right mind would spend that sort of money without a ferrari inspection so buying a lemon is unlikely.

So that someone would create a thread on pistonheads a out it, driving more traffic to the advert. Possibly increasing the chances of it selling.

Unless the dealer comments on here you have no idea why they did it.
