Still stuck with my EV… Any way of raffling it?
Discussion
My car is still with me, losing 100s by the week it seems. It was a mistake to buy it had I known I’d have kept it for such a short time but I wasn’t to know we were going to move back to France…
I’ve got while August this year to sell it but I’m just getting increasily concerned about the value it appears to be shedding… I think it will stabilise about now or soonish but the latest valuation appears to be anything between £21,000-24,000 for a car I paid a little over £36,000 in August 2022.
I’d be happy around the £30,000 mark but those valuations are really too low. The car for our use is perfect- we have an old faithful TDI Touran for the odd long distance use but for 80% of our trips the EV is spot on. It’s effortlessly quick, costs pennies to run (if it wasn’t for that pesky depreciation!!) is smooth, comfy etc… Truly a perfect everyday car.
If the steering wheel was the other way round I’d take it but it’s not, also £30k would come handy towards the house renovation over there. Anyhow, I’m waffling on….
Is there a company out there that exists willing to take your car on? If it had enough exposure and a minimum of entries it may get me an acceptable figure? Or can you guys think of any other way?

High peak autos on YouTube does raffleshack. You might contact him?
But surely the value is the value? Have you put it on autotrader? I guess the problem is that 30k is a lot for most without finance
Odd that as I actually have contacted him. Can try again! But surely the value is the value? Have you put it on autotrader? I guess the problem is that 30k is a lot for most without finance
But yes exactly, £30k without finance is a bit much!
Loads for sale on Autotrader for over £30k, your probably going to have to either sell it privately at a loss, or take it with you.
Ive done a fair bit of driving in France, and never been an issue in a RHD car.
Why are these so expensive for such a small car, in comparison, you can buy the equivalent used I.D.3 for £5-7K less.

Where are you off to this time?
It seems you’ve had half a dozen different plans since I last mowed the lawn.
Haha it’s now signed and sealed, we’re moving near Grasse in the south of France. It seems you’ve had half a dozen different plans since I last mowed the lawn.
Schools for the kids sorted, house sorted and we’re working online so looking forward to it but nervous also!

If it's going to lose that much cash selling it are you better off keeping it?.
I've had a RHD car on the continent for nearly 5 years now without any problems. I guess it depends where you're going to be driving though. On motorways and in town its fine (and in some ways better as you're closer to the cyclists) but it makes overtaking on country lanes nearly impossible without a passenger you trust. Carpark or toll road barriers might be an issue but the only time we tend to go through them is with 2 of in the car anyway.

The problem is as an individual you're unlikely to meet the raffle ticket threshold in order to get your money, if you sell it to a company that raffles cars (RevComps etc) then they're going to offer you the same as other traders are offering to buy the car for.
There's a chap on the F-Type owners club who has stuck his P300 up on Raffall - £35/ticket, 2.5k tickets to sell for the raffle to be sent (or a countdown of, I think, 120days) and the car itself is worth £55k on a good day. The raffle host takes 25% of the money, you get the remaining 75%.
Total raffle value is £87.5k for a £55k car, if all tickets sell then he can pocket £65.6k... But what if it doesn't sell out or the car owner doesn't stump up a prize? Well, the 'winner' receives 75% of any money that was sold in tickets, the company keep their 25% regardless.
Raffles are saturated and I'd much rather stick £10 in to a RevComps raffle for a new M5 than I would putting £35 in to a raffle for a cheaper car, with no real visibility of how it all works.
