Mileage discrepancy on HPI check

I'm looking at buying a 2015 car from private buyer and after doing HPI check have uncovered this:

I'm thinking as it's NAMA ( National Association of Motor Auctions) rather than MOT that the mileage was put in by error as it would probably read ok if it was 71,718.

The mileage roughly ties in with new owners, lower use for 1 owner then higher when it changed hands. Has 4 previous owners.

Does this have red flags against it? Nothing else uncovered on HPI check. Don't want to just ignore it though as it would be pointless in doing the check otherwise.

I would ignore it and carry on, as you say most likely a typo.

One thing to consider is that you may find a potential buyer from you will have pause. Maybe the owner has an invoice etc to confirm correct mileage at the time?

Yeah like you say if it's something that I've queried then next buyer would likely do the same. I'll check receipts for any evidence but MOT mileage all shows ok so don't think there's anything to be concerned about.

With this sort of thing unless it is rare then just walk away as anyone you try to sell it to will most likely just walk away and buy the next one. Even if you prove it was a typo most will have dismissed it rather than asking about it.

Its a concerning one, on the one hand it could easily be a typo but on the other hand it could just as easily be a dodgy trader buying the car from auction and knocking a few thousand miles off before putting it up for sale.

Wouldn't bother me. Let's say it's not a typo (which it probably is) they've only shaved 8k miles off it, unless I'm missing something? 91k Vs 99k hardly a big difference..

It’s pretty common, I’ve bought two cars in the past where there has been a mistake like this on the mileage records.

If the rest checks out then I wouldn’t dismiss it for this alone.

I don't think anyone would deliberately knock off only 10k miles, maybe 50k but not worth the hassle / risk on 10k mileage.
If the rest of the car checks out - does the service history match up for 2018 / 19? - I'd be tempted to carry on with the purchase unless there are any other red (or even amber) flags....

7000 miles? non-issue, probably just an entry error which isn't unheard of. Now if it had been 70,000 miles.
