£50,000 budget, third car, what do I buy?

Genuine question - to which I hope later in the the thread to post a picture of the answer.

I have an "up to" £50,000 budget to buy a third car in a garage which already has a 5 series and a Rangerover in it. This third car will do 5,000 miles a year purely for fun and entertainment. I am a middle aged man with a clean license living on a farm in a low crime area and can insure anything. I could split the £50k into two cars if someone suggested an Elise plus a Bentley Arnarge sort of solution. I want something fun.

I am open to suggestions from the floor though. The vacancy arises through the selling of my GT86. Bonus points for anything convertible and anything that works on a country road which is what I live on.

I keep coming back to a moderate spec Porsche Boxster 718 but it seems a bit too obvious and a bit too over-geared for my B road blasting.

Just want to canvass the wisdom of the crowd before writing a big cheque. Thanks in advance. And yes it is a nice problem to have.

If it was me, I struggle to choose between a Nissan GTR or or 997 turbo.

Having roof of fun on a UK B road is basically the design spec for the Elise. There is nothing better (at least not for less than £50k).

Disclaimer: I have an Elise sat in the garage for just the same reason.

I've had a far from new MX5 Mk2 before and loved it. That was twenty years ago when I barely had a mattress. I am hitting the point in life when I have much more cash than I ever expected. I ended up looking at Ferrari California T's this afternoon before slapping myself around the face and trying to be just a bit more sensible.

I live handy for Mr Litchfield so it's a decent shout. I just tend to think those cars start working at 120mph and in reality I am on the B4314 working at 75mph on an overtake of some pensioner spec Fiesta.

SL63. Not a great B roader you'd think, bar it's so quick when you hoof it you'd catch almost anything on the straights that corners quicker than it does.

Doesn't everyone have a list, and knows most cars have flaws, but you never know if a) owners exaggerate or even underplay them and B) if you've missed anything.

Hence things like this "Car Buying" folder on a car enthusiasts website is quite popular..?

Yes. It was a lot of hard work. Plus I also have a glider a tractor and a quad bike - its a most toys wins scenario...

Thank you, F-type just do not do it for me despite them screaming to be the solution. Will have a look at SL63, was not on my radar, thank you that's the content I was hoping for.

A work colleague has a beauty and is looking to sell. Whilst I respect the car and understand its amazingness there is a streak in me that wants something with some bling rather than some kit car whiff. The Mrs would probably get a kick out of the occasional use of a Porsche Boxster and whilst that is a bit sad the phrase happy wife happy life is also germane in my experience.

Honey I've bought a Noble is not going to be an easy sell.
