My mother was down staying at our house dog sitting over the weekend whilst me and my wife were away working.

Car taken sometime on Saturday night, she is quite upset, had the car from new and think she planned to keep it until she stopped driving.

It was a 64 Ford Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost (125PS) Titanium X. She had only put 30,000 miles on it.

I feel bad as she was down with us so made it my mission to sort her another car out ASAP whilst insurance drag their feet.

She would like another smallish car, petrol, manual, brisk but not OTT on performance front (She maybe 70 but still cracks on down the M1 at a good rate!). Does only about 2,000 miles per year.

Now conditions she gave is must be reliable, no keyless entry, that’s how her Fiesta was stolen, must have a lower boot lip than the Fiesta as her dog isn’t getting any younger and new as possible and low mileage as possible. Would like to get from a dealer for the security.

Budget is up to £9K I reckon

I keep looking at the Ford B-Max but the Keyless bit seems to be an issue on the models that have similar toys to her Fiesta. Couple of Fiat 500L came up, sent her a link and she surprisingly liked it but it gets quite a poor write up and worried that 94bhp would bore her senseless quickly.

So is there anything obvious I’m missing? Not clued up with the segment of the market at all.

Thanks in advance.

Or an estate of sorts so she can get your dogs in the back and take them home away from the rough area you seemingly live in

Good call on the i20 or Jazz.

I think she may shoot the Jazz down as she says “It’s an old persons car…” whilst ignoring the fact she is… well… older! Thank god she won’t see this thread.

Estate is definitely what I suggested, something like a Fabia or Ibiza…. Won’t have a Fabia as it’s a Skoda… I know, I know…. She is that mindset. Didn’t like the Ibiza as interior was “too dull”, I did agree with that one though, it was boring as sin.

Not put Focus or Golf estate to her yet, seeing if can slowly introduce bigger cars and hopes she doesn’t notice as would make finding her something a lot easier.

Sod’s Law! We’ve been here 10 years, got motorbikes and no one ever touched the car or bikes, she comes down for 4 days and bloody car goes walk about! Spoke to Police who said car is probably in Doncaster or Leicester now, they marked it on PNC but obviously not much they can do. Loads of Fiestas being stolen via the keyless system.

It's actually a fun thing & they go well. They're also well spec'd so as well as heated everything a decent stereo they all mirror link her phone & the 6 speed box will make motorway journeys a bit more relaxing vs something like the 5 speed in the Abarth, talking of which there's also the Abarth 595:

Out of the three you've sent her the Adam would get my vote. smile

All these have a bootlip lower than the Fiesta, are newer (2015), cheap to tax, have a reasonable amount of power, are reliable and I *think* they don't have keyless entry, but probably best to check

Big thanks again, I’m basically copying the links and sending them over.

Red Adam got a thumbs up. Abarth unfortunately not, she reckoned abit OTT. Clio got an Ok. She is going through others as we speak.

Just been told the White Mini was a good option.

Assuming they have some intelligence that car theft gang are operating from there, didn’t really elaborate.

Not holding out much chance of seeing it again though Mim said even if they did, she would want rid of it now anyway.
