Planning for the next Family Car

Our current family car-Volvo XC60 PHEV will come to the end of it's 3 year lease next May so given lead times (unless I go second hand) probably a good time to start thinking about it's replacement.
I like the Volvo, it's our second (previous was a V90 cross country) >90% of our journeys are done on full electric, school run, trip to the supermarket, work etc. Pulls well enough when required, comfortable on longer journeys and enough space for our family of 4. I quite like the leasing approach of just handing the keys back at the end and having a new car every 2-3 years and haven't owned a car for about 8 years.
Owing to the lack of lease deals I would consider buying (I may enquire about the possibility of buying the XC60 but expect it will be over my budget of 30K).
We do 8-10K per year, the frustrating thing (won't be alone in this) We don't need that much car for 90% of the time but my wife's family are 6 hours away and we do that trip 2-3 times a year plus any other holidays where we need something to carry myself 6'4" two kids (4&7) who need less paraphernalia now, my wife, plus we recently got a dog.
I quite like the PHEV but haven't really done the sums to see if the £ saved justifies the extra purchase price. I wouldn't be against going full electric and it looks like Tesla have dropped their new prices, which as far as I'm aware is due to a combination of things, we can charge at home/work so that side of it doesn't put us off.
Anyone in or have been in a similar position would appreciate any suggestions.

The Tesla Model Y and 3 will be bigger than the XC60.
Not a bad shout. A mate has a focus and always impressed by the interior space. Issue with a roof box is I don't really have anywhere to keep one when it's not in use. Maybe something like a Focus?

Never considered (or possibly heard of these) like the look of them but seem to have just had a update and at that price point could get another XC60.
