I'm buying from a national chain today. I've looked at the MOT history but is it a waste of a tenner if I'm buying from a national chain? If it's of any consequence its a 4 year old car with 19k miles. It just occurred to me as I've never done one before....

I’d run a vcheck on it for piece of mind, it may uncover something that hasn’t been declared to the official channels and the dealer might not be aware of it either.

I did similar a few months ago on a 2yr old car I was purchasing.

Definitely run a Vcheck rather than a standard HPi.

Dealers will say anything, or not as the case may be to get a sale, there have been plenty of reports on here about it, and they aren't nearly as helpful after they have your money as a rule.

I was interested in a 2019 Merc SL500 being sold by MB Southampton earlier in the year. A V check revealed it had a mileage discrepency and had previously been a hire vehicle. I didn't proceed.

Does V-Check show ex rental?

Tenner is a lot for a rather basic check. Someone bought a “stolen”/fake identity BMW 1M coupe not too long ago…HPI didn’t want to know.

It did, I'll try and find the report. It was an ex Hertz car iirc.
