More of a selling question!

I’ve just sold my camper van to a very nice guy in Ireland.
We agreed a price and he has paid a reasonable deposit. All seems legit , I’ve told him money has to show in my account before before I pass the keys over . He’s flying in and getting the ferry back .
have I missed anything here . I seem to remember issues with money transfers being cancelled after 24 hrs or so !
I’ve no reason to suspect anything is amiss but like to be sure ! Tia!

I dont know really, but perhaps transfer the money out that account into another as soon as it lands?

A refund demand of (for example) £10k from an account with £0 balance would surely automatically be rejected (unless you have a massive overdraft)?

Just in case - if he phones you up a few hours after collecting it, and tells you the engine has blown up and he wants his money back - do not give him the money.............

Only realistic way he can recover the money if he sent it from someone else’s account and they claim it’s fraudulent

I'm not sure, based on recent irish based motorhome threads that I'd be comfortable dealing with an Irish buyer in general.

Nothing wrong with cash except I’d only do the transaction at your bank and pay it in in his presence which protects both of you.

I wouldn't accept cash, too risky and you would need to pay it in at the bank. Given you would probably need to book an appointment to pay the money in and that if you pay anything more than £100 in they quiz you like you have stolen it, yet alone the hassle for a large amount.

I sold a car 3 years ago and the buyer wanted to pay £40k bank transfer and £10k cash. We just went to the bank and he paid it into my account.

Many local bank branches have closed this year, even the ones in the city centre. Barclays are on a roll.
Still, can access some (most) services through the Post Office.

I had a chap buy a car from me, flew from Ireland and ferry back. The costs for bank transfers meant he ended up bringing cash, we paid it into a bank account with us both present. Although he was typical Irish sense of humour...stood there using the paying in machines and a senior cashier helping us, then on the third round of £2k the machine stopped, and opened up leaving about £200 showing. Irish fella in his proper strong southern Irish accent said 'ah feck those are the ones we printed out' - the look on the bank staff face

I've accepted cash before on a number of occasions, have one of those pens that checks the currency is legit and Robert is your Uncle.
