Importing a former UK car from Ireland
Discussion
Hi All
I’m looking at purchasing a car from Ireland. Car was an original 2005 UK car exported to Ireland. Never imported before.
Anyone have any idea on the steps to re register this as a UK car. And would I have to pay any tax or duty at all on the car, on its way back in?

Easiest (although not necessarily the cheapest) is going to be buying via a Northern Irish car dealer "sourcing it" for you as they have some unique privileges under Brexit that will smooth the way and get the paperwork sorted for you.
Don't understand the ins and outs of it myself, even when it gets explained to me by a family member doing just this for stock and customers.
