Quick family car - 25-30k

So, slight change of plans means that the mid-life crisis 2 seater that I planned for this summer will have to wait and I’m on the lookout for a new family wagon to replace our Discovery 4.

I figure I might as well try to get something a bit more fun and current top contender is the 540i on a 17/18 plate. I’ve 2 teenagers, one who is 6 foot tall so rear legroom is an issue. Tried the c/e-class merc and smaller saloons and they just don’t feel big enough.

I drive 15 miles each way to work with a mix of dual carriageway and B roads. Think this probably precludes a diesel.

I briefly looked at Tesla Model S but the insurance is crazy! Would love a FF Range Rover but bork potential seems high at that price point!

Any other options that are worth looking at?

Hadn’t considered the S6, looked at A6’s but not much competing performance wise with the 540i. The S6 definitely does and bonus points for being a V8!!

Didn’t even know the CLS400 was a thing!
