Ok so I have the three linked to above to consider. One from a dealer, 10k, but seems the best in terms of history and comes with warranty/dealer security. 5 V8 nearly 100k miles.

Option 2 is another 5v8, private sale though so no security like a dealer, but under 9k with 30k less miles so money saved to go on servicing etc.

Option 3, cheapest, is a 4.2v8. It's a private sale and only £5000 but has done more mileage than them all and needs a bump in the door sorting.

What would people go for, I appreciate it's only limited information but I would really appreciate your opinions. The links for all 3 are on previous messages, but also here:-

Hi thanks for taking the time to respond, not keen on an R as prefer the softer ride on the standard XF

No probs, personal preference of course, I've only driven an XFR so don't have a basis for comparison. I think jags in the main though (even sport models) have a more pliant ride that other contemporaries. I have just acquired an FType V8 and it rides better than the previous BMw 6 series i had.

Oooh I'm jealous! I had considered a 650i as an alternative but I think the Jag is more practical

The BMs are really nice cars, i had the first bangle design 635d and later the 640d. Both fast, capable and economic, but they didn't feel special after a while. XF are ageing very well, quite a timeless design. Good luck with the search (if you haven't driven an XFR and find one locally do try, they are impressive!) haha

For me the most resolved is the dark grey with charcoal interior. Good and original spec by the looks of it. The silver one with low miles has gaps in history, an engine tune which probably isn't necessary, and i think the shape suits deeper colours personally. The cheapest of the trio has the smaller engine (which is still a good one) but it's also an early production XF, so the newer cars may have had updates in their production cycle, recalls or improvements made. It all depends on budgets too though! Oh and the cheaper one needs the original exhaust tips fitting back! (Personal preference of course!)

Yes I have asked if he has them, as I am not a fan of what's currently on it!

Any particular reason you’ve used monetised links rather than going straight to ebay/AT? Seems a bit dodge.

The silver one for me, it just looks more presentable with some money having been spent on it. Its also photographed in a nicer arear. The DOve house jag looks like it might have an aftermarket exhaust on it, the last one - no simply because of whoever put those exhaust tips on clearly has no taste.

The 4.2 looks like it has had some front-end damage.

I'm going to see car 2 Thursday evening. I think it's my first choice so I'll go and see it first. Nice spec, low mileage etc
