10k budget for a fun daily

I can't remember the amount of times I've had to message my boss to say I'll be working from home due to car issues.

So, after owning many unreliable cars in a row, notably an E90 320si (yes the engine went bang), I feel it's time to move on to something modern and reliable...
I currently daily drive an R53 Mini Cooper S. It has been the most fun car I've owned and I really don't want to get rid but it just isn't dependable enough for my lifestyle and the running costs are slightly silly.

My budget is 10k.
Must be 'reliable', I don't want to lose my job. (I understand that nothing truly is reliable hence I use the term here loosely.)
Being 23, insurance rules out a lot of cars for me.
I also do big miles and commute into London so whatever I get has to be ULEZ and decent enough on fuel, at minimum, better than my R53.
I've only ever owned one auto in my life which was an E46 and I absolutely loved it. So I am tempted to switch to the dark side for my new daily.
I would like something fun, I do enjoy the odd Sunday drive with some friends but alas, I'm prepared to sacrifice that if needs be.
Must seat 4 adults too.

I'm currently looking at F56 Mini Cooper S's. They seem to fit the bill, and I can get a nice spec manual within budget. From research and people I know who own them, they are exceptional on fuel, cheap to insure, and just generally a pretty hassle-free daily - exactly what I'm after. Although looks are divisive, I think in BRG with the LCI headlights, I'd be smitten. An Abarth was on the cards but the lack of cruise control and general impracticality has swayed my mind.

But before I go down that rabbit hole, I thought I'd throw this out here to see if there's anything I'm missing.

Peugeot 208 GTI.

Better to drive than the mini, faster than the mini, lighter, more reliable, more room inside and better equipped in Prestige spec.

We get 40mpg out of ours long term and my wife has owned it since passing her driving test so good on insurance. We stuck cross climates on it for winter and it was a beast in the snow.

There is a 208 GTI by Peugeot Sport which is a better drive again but slight more expensive and might be over budget. Personally find it the best super mini hot hatch.

Fiesta ST mk7 a fantastic car as well.

Fiesta ST is an obvious choice for me, I'd find it hard to look past that you may be able to get a Mk3 Focus ST if you need more space but the Fiesta will be more fun.

I'd also look at Renault Clio Sports.

Reliable and fun? Honda Civic Type R. For 10k you'd get an FN2 or maybe and EP3. Either way, my own experience was that the FN2 had more mod cons such as cruise control and Xenon headlights, so would be my choice for daily driving, but any Type R is a blast while still being rock solid reliable.

Whilst I have one and I enjoy it, I personally wouldn't spend 10k on one. It could be an option to spend about half of that or a bit more, get a good one and keep the change for whatever, but I'd still probably pick something else.

Bit of a wild card but a pretty perfect fast, fun daily would be a Clio 200 EDC for me. 1.6T, 200 BHP, fully specced up, dual-clutch 'box, Nissan engine. Tuneable, quick, small, light, etc.
