Weekend car

Looking for some suggestions for a fun hot-hatch type car that wont be used as a daily in the 10-15k range. Recently moved house and walk to work so no need for something sensible anymore.

Vauxhall Astra VXR or a Renaultsport Megane are usually the 2 main suggestions on threads with similar demands on here.

Fun / Hot Hatch + S3 dont usually belong together.

fun... try some off-roading. a nice Suzuki or an L200 mitsi - fun is driving round quarries and stuff, not zipping around as fast as you can on B roads.

alternatvely, get a kit car - somethign you can tinker with without the need for a laptop to diagnose every little thing.

if you just want a car to zip around in, then an MR2 vert, or an MX5. Dont spend a fortune -

for £10k get a suzuki and an MR2 so you can swap about depending on the weather

If it's got to be a hot hatch...a BMW M135i. Alternatively, I'd be considering a Porsche Cayman/Boxster...you'd get a nice 986 from a reputable dealer at that kind of price point.

As above it's either the best Megane RS with the Cup Chassis/VXR you can find or at the very top/just over your budget you may be able to land a Peugeot Sport 308 GTI 270:

Don’t think you’d get an M135i you’d want to touch with a bargepole at £10k, nor Cayman.

As good as an M135i is it's not a hot hatch imo.

Apologies my mistake, you are right. Though I still dispute you'd get a particularly good Cayman for that budget- I tried myself!

I think it has to be quite a narrow definition for hot hatch if you exclude an M135i.

For a weekend car not for daily practicality I’d not be looking at a hatchback.

It's a hatch and it's not exactly slow!

What is your definition of a hot hatch? FWD torque steer disaster with terminal understeer?

Is there a reason why it needs to be a hot hatch?(seats, luggage space, etc)

If it’s just an occasional weekend fun car then a VX220 is in budget.

If it’s a hot hatch, then you can never go wrong with a Civic Type R IMO.

The M135i/140i won't live with a Cup Chassis Megane RS/GTC VXR or PS270 don'r a decent bit of A/B road all things being equal, torque steer disaster? I suggest you go & drive one as the 135i will under steer first also the suspension can run out of ideas early on.

They're under damped & there's a reason those who want it to be a hot hatch raid the M3 parts bin & add an LSD.

I think they're a great allrounder but a hot hatch they aren't
