Auctions, Salvage, etc.
Discussion
Hi all,
Please can I get some recommendations on reliable/trustworthy car auctions, salvage auctions/sites, etc.
I have a budget of around £4-5k.
I've been warned to be cautious with car auctions and salvage sites. So just wondering if there are any decent options.
Was advised BCA may be a worthy option, as they allow return with full refund within 24 hours of collection if the car is not as described, unknown faults, etc. However, this may not apply to all vehicle categories.
Also been warned to stay well away from Copart!
Would really appreciate any pointers

Forget about BCA and Mainheim, the private buyers fees are ridiculous.
I am not even sure post covid they allow the public to bid anymore.
Ebay is mainly junk but you can find a few good cars if you spend the time and quiz the seller.
I think your much better buying from a dealership chain at this price range, as theres lots that can go wrong in this price bracket.

Silverlake who are a large breakers yard, seem to try to auction off cars when they first get them and if they have no luck, then start breaking them up -> https://auctions.silverlake.co.uk/
Might be less chance of something being tarted up for sale than something put through Copart by a private seller.
(As others suggest, and I'm sure the OP has asked the question before, this is only something you should be doing if you know what you are doing).

BCA are now strictly trade only so your not going to be buying from them so that would leave places like mannheim or aston barclay.
Many sales are now closed and only open to approved bidders (basically main dealer chains) which pretty much leaves the dregs as available to all and if your unable to identify a lemon your going to get burnt....
