New Car Advice
Discussion
Hi all - Standard long time lurker, first time poster intro... I had an account years and years ago (signed up 20 years ago) but that account has long gone! Have been reading the website since then, and the forums daily for the past 18 months or so.
Anyway, Looking for some input on a new (to me) car purchase. I'm looking to spend around £16k, and want something fun, engaging and a bit of an enthusiasts car. The slightly trick bit is I will use it for work, and do at least 15k a year, so need something that's not going to be completely devastating fuel and maintenance wise (40mpg + on a motorway run?). Also have 2 young boys, so back doors and seats will be important.
So far I'm looking at Leon Cupras, Octavia VRS & 308 GTis... I'm hoping for something no older than 2018 and with ideally no more than 60k miles as I'd like to be able to keep it for a good chunk of time.
Would be good to hear if anyone has any other suggestions?

The PS 308 GTI 270 is the pick (as long as the driving position suits you) of the more modern hot hatches but they're hard to find at your price point:

Warm hatch wise I'd consider these (not so much an enthusiasts choice but very good dailies) few:

Kia Ceed GT, these will still be in warranty:
