Just thought I would share my experience :

Used Car Vertical for the first time a month ago for a check prior to buying a 2018 car. The report came back fine, but the section with the spec of the car was in Russian or some similar language and was unreadable by me which was annoying because there was two pages of it and it would have been useful.

Tried to use them again yesterday for a check on another vehicle. Logged in with my password to be met with 'you need to update your password' and no matter what I tried to change it to, it wouldnt accept it, so after 5 minutes of faffing around I gave up and used HPI instead.

HPI - perfect. Quick, all in readable English, and no stupid accounts to set up.

A good example of a service that is marketed to death but is actually not very good and I wont bother with them again.

Anyone else had similar experience?

I think used Car Vertical years ago for my last non-approved used car purchase, it wasn't anything like you've said. Shame the quality has dropped.
I'm picking up an FN2 Type R next weekend and need to do a VIN check so thanks for the tip!

A friend used it to check a car prior to purchase. All seemed fine, the report he sent me to look over all made sense.

But yes, you are right. If I have to sit through another lengthy interlude about it in a YouTube motoring video I will scream!

I'd say VCheck is better than both.

95% of the time Vcheck offers all you need and is much cheaper than CV - however if you are buying a rare or exotic car that’s more likely to have been imported/exported etc then the fact CV covers a lot of countries is probably worth the extra cost.

Used Carvertical a couple of times in the last couple of months and worked as advertised, no issues. It does seem to be on every YouTubers videos now though, always skip the promotional bits

They clearly spend all their revenue of paying every single YouTuber to advertise their tat for 1/3rd of their videos. I would refuse to use it, just because of the fact its a hassle to keep skipping the garbage ads.

I find the High Peak videos to be highly interesting, informative and with a sense of humour and self deprecation. Ok, some of it may be stage- managed, but we view it free, for heaven’s sake and you can skip a majority of the ads if they annoy you. I can think of a few car mags which are less interesting.

Agreed - more economical too even after the influencer discount codes.
