Morning all, I run a tree surgery business and am in need of a 4x4 to tow loads up to 3.5 tons. I have a 2019 Toyota Hilux which is completely gutless and a manual and from experience an auto is much better for towing. All the current crop of utility pick ups rely on small engines and manual gearboxes so I was considering something like a Mitsubishi Shogun. I will keep the Hilux as it has been converted to a tipper for wood chip. Budget is up to 10k. Apart from the Shogun, there are things such as Discoverys but I am not sure about reliability with them. Any other suggestions or advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Take a good look at the ML450/420cdi they'll be great for that kind of usage:

If you're feeling brave there's always the 5.0tdi Toureg:

Some good options there but I could really do with something with low range and diff lock as it will get used off road too. Love the idea of the V10, that is what is needed for towing.
