Car dealer sold up - is the warranty still live

Hi folks,
My daughter bought a car from a dealer/trader in Reading about 10 wks ago and had nothing but problems.
Their support has been somewhat lacking and now it looks like a broken mirror won't be replaced and the turbo is faulty / using oil.
She rang again today and apparently the new 'owner' (if its not the original guy trying to hide his business) is saying she hasn't really got a path to follow to get these problems sorted under the 6 month warranty provided.
Can anyone advise on best path to follow?
Im thinking an email to the director stating court proceedings will be started.
Any advice appreciated.

Warranties can sometimes be an easy solution to problems but as a consumer your legal rights are covered by CRA 2015
Did your daughter pay a deposit and if so did she use a credit card?
If so then she can use Section 75 of the Consumer credit Act and pursue the credit card company as they are jointly and severally liable along with the seller.

As others have said - what was the warranty- insurance backed or just provided by the vendor?
Was it purchased from a company? If so change of ownership of the company doesn’t affect the company’s obligations.
Might be a bit more difficult if it’s Arfur Daley trading as Dodgy Cars but as you say “new owner” it suggests it’s a company. What does her invoice/receipt say?

It’s worth making them aware of any “funny business” but you won’t be claiming from them at this point. Your contract (which we’ve not seen) is presumably with Dodgy Cars Limited so it would be Dodgy Cars Limited you would be suing to start with. IANAL I think you need to confirm who you actually bought the car from. If the receipt is from a limited liability company, then your contract is with that legal entity.
Check with companies house what their legal status is.
I am pretty sure if you pursue the wrong person through the legal system, it'll be rejected very quickly.
I would ask Mods to move to SP&L where you will get views from those more expert than I.

We bought the car from A&M Donnington Car Sales. The co above seems to have changed its name to Carefree Cars but the same director remains. I've sent an email to the existing A&M (Donnington) Car Sales asking who the director is and what their company number is if its now under new ownership!
