With the car market having had a correction some cars have become great bargains whilst overs have retained their valley (which is great as I am looking to buy a car over the winter).

For example the cheapest BMW i8's pre market crash I was finding were £39k/£40k, where as now there are a few at £30k, that is a great price for them.

Also Audi R8's were £32k at the cheapest, but now there are a couple at £27k/£29k, definitely worth it at that price.

The flipside is that my BMW 640d, which WBAC valued at £10k, is now valued at £7k... bad times.

What other cars have turned into bargains almost overnight?

EVs especially fell off a cliff this year, some of them are really looking good value now. The 64 kWh Kona for £15k with 250-300 mile range is a good example, eg https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202311234... , also Ioniq, the Stellantis 50kWh siblings. A little further up the price range a Model 3 at £20k is good value if you don't need a hatchback.

I have not noticed much ‘ correction’ in prices at a well regarded small independent stocking around 20 cars, sourced from main dealers or local word of mouth disposals such as bereavement or giving up driving. However, these are on the lot for longer in a dreary climate and as Christmas approaches. I’m looking here at mainly ‘ everyday’ stuff, not exotics, but to answer the original question, there is very little change. An amendment: they won’t stock electrics.

I'm seeing used BMWs generally pushing downwards faster than lots of other marques - presumably because insurance costs seem to have swiftly risen on quite a few of their more powerful/6 cylinder stuff - certainly that's what I'm reading in the owner's forums anyway. Think similar is happening with Range Rovers based around the capital.

Would obviously therefore examine what your (vous) insurance costs would look like before throwing the cash around mind.

2019 series 840D for £28k at cargiant seems a bargain
That is seriously good value as you say, and I didn't expect them to be that cheap to be honest. A lot of car for the money I reckon.

One year BMW extended warranty on that costs £3300 (with £100 excess).

That’s ridiculous.

I’ve just extended the warranty on my Giulia QV for £499 - underwritten by Allianz, who also underwrite the BMW extended warranty…

Not sure i've seen a crash tbh, just maybe a slightly steeper deprecation curve?

I'd hardly call £32k to £29k for the R8 a crash, especially as we are now nearly in December and the values of sports cars are always a little bit softer this time of year.

always thought it was mondial that was the underwriter
BMW and Alfa are both AWP which is Allianz.
Massive difference in cost though.
