I’m helping a friend out with a car as he gets discount through work and has decided to look at an Insignia. Ideally he is after a petrol, but as I’ve never owned one I couldn’t recommend a model for him to go for. Any suggestions are welcome.

Odd to get a discount on a used car as Vauxhall stopped Insignias about 2 years ago.

Don’t buy one, it’s a General Motors parts bin and your friend will have numerous issues during ownership.

Well my 2.0 cdti VX line is worth much less than 10k so not necessarily relevant. I’m guessing the newer shape one will be available.
But for what it’s worth…
Mine is very low miles 45k ( going up fast though). Good on juice. Good on motorway. Very quick( light) steering so feels nippy and I enjoy the country lanes. Seems to have plenty of grip. Been totally reliable up to now.
However the ride on 20” wheels is harsh. Looks great but is very thumpy over broken tarmac. I would be happy to change bushes or whatever if it would help but nothing seems particularly amiss.
I’m happy enough

Simple the hard to find but worth seeking out 1.6T is the pick:

They look quite good. How come they are hard to find? He did consider a VXR but they will have had quite a hard life.

No idea they weren't a good seller.

Oh right. Looks okay on the specs. He said he will have a look at them and possibly try a VXR and see what they are like. Thanks for the help.

Any other suggestions that he could look at?
