Next family car/wife's car

Hi all

I'm after some pistonheads advice on what to replace our 16 plate Touareg with. Love the car but the running costs and the size of it means it's probably best to change it.

The wife uses it mainly with our 6 month old so we need something practical and she wants another auto.

She wants a smaller SUV but I'm trying to sway her towards an estate, budget will probably be up to about 25k.

I will be using it sometimes so it has to have a bit of go in it as well.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

They seem great value for money but I just don't like the shape of them or the 1 litre engine I'm afraid.

Fair enough on the styling, but the hybrid is a 1.6.

Easy one and a fairly default choice. Either an Audi Avant, 3 Series Touring or Mercedes C Class. They are all practical, desirable with reasonable running costs and will hold onto their appeal for years.
