What vehicle checker?

Others may comment but I’ve used vcheck in the past and it’s been accurate with good info on the car. I’ve not had any issues flagged up mind you, so can’t personally vouch for its efficacy in picking up salvage etc.
What I would say is that most of the guarantees I’ve seen with these checks only guarantee that they, themselves, have collected the data and passed it on correctly. As far as I can understand, all the check sites generally collect the data from the same sources. So, if those sources are incorrect, eg the insurance write of database had a delayed update, they don’t pay out.

I use totalcarcheck - which only yesterday put me off a "well looked after" Mini Cooper S that I was thinking of buying when it showed me that the car had spent some time as a guest of the good people at Copart, including a link to the Copart auction photos of the car in many many pieces.
Just a wee heads up for anyone looking to get a car check done,
If you purchase a single vehicle check from Car-Checking.com they will automatically set you up on a monthly subscription.
What should be a single fee of £5.95 becomes £39.90 per month.
I thankfully found out in time and had my bank cancel the direct debit the company had set up without my consent.
By the looks of their Trust Pilot reviews hundreds have been caught out by this.
(I had googled Vcar check and selected the first link sponsored by google. Turns out it wasn't Vcar but this mob instead. My mistake)

I used V Check for my last purchase. It picked up a mileage discrepancy due to an error from service advisors/MOT testers but I was satisfied everything was ok with the car. No issues with V Check.
Car Vertical seem to be the equivalent of Squarespace which are all over YouTube as well. Every YouTuber recommends them and says what great value but when you look into you’re a bit shocked at the price

I got stung by this - I tried to email the company for a refund and they (obviously) refused and stated that it does mention this in the T&Cs. Vile company who have probably made thousands off people having no idea about it. However, its the only check I can find that gives me the full VIN without hiding part of it. If there's an alternative that does this I'd love to hear about it.

vinwiki gives you the vin from the reg. Don't give car vertical your cash for this, as it's free to getI use Car Vertical now.
