Hi,

Looking to buy a 435d xDrive which has done 84k miles. It has all the extras I would want but a little concerned about this high mileage.

Are there any specifics I should be looking out for ? It has a FSH and 1 year warranty. I saw a similar one but a GranCoupe which had a gear box change and less mileage. Are the gearboxes a common problem and would that be covered by warranty ?

Thanks

How old is it?

What mileage are you planning and how long are you planning on keeping it?

To me that would be too high mileage for me as I do 20k a year and keep for 4 years. I would be worried in a year or so time a few big bills would get thrown up for me just through general maintenance.

If you’re only doing 8k miles a year and keeping for 3 years it will be fine for example.

It will also be fine if you want to do 50k miles a year, but expect maintenance and costs.

What usage are you planning?

That should be absolutely fine for what you want. I would join some Facebook groups for the 4 series and ask for known problems to look for on a test drive. More likely you’re going to get decent advice from owners such as , watch out for certain switches don’t work or this or that goes and factor in such and such items as 100k miles.

Good luck, very nice cars!

That was the only thing I would be cautious of. Dpf may be an issue.

35d engine, bottom end bearings if not serviced very well and not on long life
