After the selling of the z4 coupe and moving into a new house i am in need of a temporary car before decided what i want.

Looking for a 6 month runner that will facilitate house project type runs and the weekly trip to the office (140 mile round trip, all motorway)

came to terms with 5/6k doesnt get you much anymore and realistically looking at 10 years old cars.

My shortlist so far seems to be cars of similar age/mileage (2014ish) in no particular order:

Honda CR-V
BMW X1 (E84)
Volkswagen Tiguan
Ford Kuga
the outside choice being a dacia duster.

Most are all in diesel form, euro 6 or ulez isnt a massive consideration.

Anyone able to advise on the above or suggest any alternatives?

If you are doing house projects and also long motorway runs then a big estate may suit better than an old SUV. You can get a mk4.5 titanium X estate within budget, perhaps with a grand spare. 2.0TDCI flavour.

I have a Yeti that's surprisingly practical for a smallish car and available in 1.8T petrol form. Although MrsBill's SMax will take two dumpy bags as opposed to the Yeti's one...

As per above, a large estate may be just as useful, for £5-6k you could get a 10 year old A6 Avant, A4 Avant, Octavia VRS estate etc.

Although I would agree with one of the earlier posters about a Skoda Yeti, they are a 'do-it-all' classless car.
