Hi all, I will soon be selling my f80 m3 and am now looking for my next purchase. I have been attracted towards the f97 X3M, I love the look of it but never had the opportunity to drive one just yet. If you have owned/driven one, please let me know your thoughts on it. Also had my eye out for an rs5 but not easy to find a decent 5 door version. Please let me know your thoughts/recommendations, ideally max £50k

I like the X3M it drives well but I couldn't look past the GLC63 S....
Some amazing alternatives there! The non coupe version of the GLC is a much better looking car than its coupe counterpart.

I had one for 4 years. Hated the looks but a practical and fast daily. 20mpg averaged over 50000 miles. Tyres last 8000 miles. Much better value than a M3 Touring. Engine a bit bland for an M car but quick. Rider much better than reviews suggest.

With these high powered SUV's, are you not paying huge amounts in consumables without the benefits of a sportscar?

Get an F90 M5, you'll be able to get one in budget approved used...

If you test drive both back to back it'll be no contest, the M5 is an absolute weapon and the pre-facelift 2018 cars with no-OPF sound great. More space in the back seats than the x3M, slightly better on fuel, cheaper to insure (for me atleast), interior is obviously a level above too as it's equivalent to the x5 but comes with full leather, alcantara headliner etc as standard.

I had mine for 2 years and it was faultless, best car I've ever had.

Had a pre lci now in an lci.

Ride better in the lci but never found the old one that bad to be honest.

Good spec as standard in pre lci

Very quick car but petty heavy on the fuel.

Very practical if you've got a dog. Good family wagon.

Great cars, far prefer it to my old F80.
