Wrong Choice So Far - What Next?
Discussion
On the back of my 'Ultimate Shed' thread, where I ignored all the advice and bought a 2004 C70 T5 @ 150,000 miles with in real terms no mega problems, but I had to make the 'clean' MOT a real clean MOT, cambelt (standard whenever I buy anything of unknown providence), leak fixes, niggles. It's probably about there but ultimately despite the fact I've spent a decent car on it, I've had enough. (It's for sale!)
What's next? I've promised the Boy we can track something, so a track slag/Pubka blend is the thing. MX5 is a no because he's too tall.
Idiot brain says an RX8 that's not as nice as my nice one, but that might be a terrible car for nipping to the shop and leaving in car parks.
What's the right answer?
Budget is probably sub-5k plus a leggy Volvo.

Rx8 about the worst choice you can make for nipping to the shops in. My wife (rightly, looking back) torpedoed the idea a decade back when I explained the cold shut down procedure. Great idea as a track only car though.
Some crappy old beemer is usually the answer.
No, this is the bit where we justify another RX8.Some crappy old beemer is usually the answer.
You just get them warm and premix. Dead easy.

The ST150 is a great shout. You’d get a beauty for that money. If hot hatches are on the menu, quite a few Clio 172 cups kicking around at that sort of price as well.
Of the rwd options, you’ll be sifting through the rougher stuff but 986, 350z’s etc. There is still the odd 944 at this sort of money too but maybe they’re as crusty as can be now?
You could do worse than just sticking your budget into car and classic and see what inspires you.
