Mannheim lease return - known 'issue'
Discussion
Long time lurker/follower of the lease deals thread and have found my last two deals through posts from the forum - thank you PH'ers!
Our current Mazda CX-5 manual diesel is due to be handed back at the end of this month and we now know it'll be Manheim coming to pick it up, which may or may not be more difficult than it needs to be having read some of the threads on a similar topic.
The car just under 3 years old and will be handed back before its birthday with 29k miles (on a 30k lease), so will still just about be in warranty (by a couple of weeks) and won't yet be due an MOT or a third service.
We have had an intermittent issue with an odd high-pitched whine/drone noise when pulling off in either 1st or reverse. We sometimes go weeks without hearing it but then it'll come back and do it every time we pull off for a day or two, then disappear again. I haven't really been able to correlate it happening or not with any outside temp changes but it does seem to be worse when it's wet out.
The issue has been investigated three times now at a main Mazda dealer - once each at the two services it's had, and one more time a few months ago when we took it in specifically for this issue to be investigated. Each time it was given back to us without the garage being able to find any issue, though they noted that they had also observed the noise.
I'm concerned that when the car gets collected, the car decides it's going to be a good time to show off its party trick and we have issues with the collection. I have records of all the times it's been investigated and reports from the services, so can show that we have made significant effort to resolve the issue and that Mazda have effectively said there's no issue.
My question is: is there anything else I should be doing in advance of the collection to make sure it goes smoothly? Should I 'come clean' with the person collecting and hand over all the paperwork in case the noise is noticed on the drive back, or should I stay schtum and hope it's all fine knowing that I have the warranty and paperwork to fall back on in case something is raised?
