Something really special and will stay that way. Not like an R8 in the slightest.

Nice
Other new-ish stuff
Jag F-Type SVR
Merc AMG GT
BMW M8 Comp
Lotus Exige
Other old-ish stuff
AM V12 Vantage
Vanquish
Porsche 997 Turbo
Also maybe some old McLarens creeping into budget
If I had to pick it'd probably be GT4 as you've said or V12 Vantage
I'm sure whatever you go for it'll be great!

I wanted a 911/r8/ gt4 at one point. Got a 981 gt4. It wasn’t for me. I then got an Exige 410 much more my type of car. Cheap running costs as well.
Some McLarens maybe in budget as well as Ferraris. It would be cool to tour around in a 360 spider. But again running costs could be expensive.
Left field choice and it’s something I also fancy would be an Alpine A110

v12 vantage is a good option
i thought gt4 as it seems a very good drivers car quite reliable wont bankrupt me and would trust it to do the few thousand miles on a road trip without worry.
i am not sure i could say the same with a Ferrari or aston v12 ? although i have no experience with either
the exige not sure it would fit the weekend bags in and would destroy my back i think although the emira could work ?

My Ferrari is 22 years old with 50k on the clock. It has done many a euro road trip with no problems at all. A typical service is less than a service on my 2020 Alfa Giulia Veloce.i thought gt4 as it seems a very good drivers car quite reliable wont bankrupt me and would trust it to do the few thousand miles on a road trip without worry.

None of the cars you are looking at are cheap to run.
Firstly at this price point & for what you want test drives are very important as only you will truly know what actually works for you.
Test drive an Emira I personally feel that they're a better drivers car than a the GT4 imo, it feels like more of an event more of the time & yes they're depreciating at the moment BUT that will slow down the same happened with Evora's.
Delays/price increases all added up to cancelled orders & over supply along with some new car niggles all add up early depreciation but that's to your benefit

This is a bit of a brave pill as (getting a Thorney Warranty would add some peace of mind) a budget creep but the 12C is a cracking steer & a lot of the niggles will have been worked through:

I kind of thought the same when was looking at good Euro car options (albeit on a tighter budget) but the Emira just didn't really do it for me looks wise compared to the Exige. GT4 as you say offers great driving experience and decently reliable. Merc AMG GT also not bad but probably not quite the same driving experience as the Porsche. And some people just take them as bigger E or C class AMG's (but I think they're pretty special) i thought gt4 as it seems a very good drivers car quite reliable wont bankrupt me and would trust it to do the few thousand miles on a road trip without worry.

Just getting in and out of the Exige could be interesting let alone the luggage issue where I found squashy bags got pretty hot !i thought gt4 as it seems a very good drivers car quite reliable wont bankrupt me and would trust it to do the few thousand miles on a road trip without worry.

The R8 hasn’t the biggest space for luggage but additional room beyond seats.
There is a company called Bagworld who do some great sets of luggage btw.
No such space issues with the Vantage and generally they are pretty reliable but being an Aston will have niggles.
Running costs will obviously be more than the GT4 especially given that servicing on that is every 2 years.

Yes i know i struggled 18 years ago with a s1 elise i owned getting in and out, and i am not fat or struggle with my flexibility by any means The R8 hasn’t the biggest space for luggage but additional room beyond seats.

so fast fowrard 18 years can imagine an exige would be the same.

I only looked at the photos because manual Gallardo's are quite a rare thing. I nearly put my Cerbera in a ditch once, because I had one of those following me down a nice country road. I was too busy looking at it in my rear view mirror...that I nearly ended up in the hedge bottom!
I bet that was a fun spirited drive

Porsches generally always good, but are they a bit predictable/not special enough, for me anyway, just due to them being so common. Having said that, a manual 4.0 cayman GTS would be my Porsche pick up to 60k.
For something with a much better opening the garage door/starting the engine excitement factor you could look at a Maserati granturismo stradale. Exotic looks, epic sound, rare as a stradale version and would be a good euro tourer too.
