I’ve currently got a gold gtd and looking for an upgrade I love sound of petrol cars but do a lot of milage for work therefore I been looking at 435D but feel I may be disappointed if I get it as all my mates have loud petrol cars and I love riding passenger and hearing them but don’t really want costs of a petrol

I had one. From memory long term mpg was around 42. However I have also has two 330d which were about 10% better on mpg but much smoother and quiter engines. 435d not worth it IMO

Had one
- refined
- economical
- quick
- bit of a bobbing boat handling wise which annoyed me, damping just wasn’t on point
- preferred my same era Audi S5

I've had a few 30d and 35d models and honestly think the RWD 30d is the sweet spot in the range. Still plenty quick enough (even more so with a map), proper M sport suspension, sits lower, lighter, feels sharper to drive, noticeably better on fuel, less to go wrong.

Pretty much identical to my experience. Always thought it sat too high and felt tall in corners and over crests. Crying out for adaptive damping which I think was an option. Wasn't fitted as standard due to the packaging of the xDrive system, apparently.

Had a 430d GC x-drive and loved it - I wouldn’t have sold it but my wife wanted an SUV.
A proper car, stylish, practical & averaged 38mpg.

Get it map it and wave goodbye to all your mates.
They don't sound too bad for a diesel tbf..
I quite like the look of the 435d with the right wheels etc, seem to be cheaper than the 3 series too.
M140 may be an option if you drive it carefully.

I kind of went backwards and went from a 335d shadow edition to a GTD.

The 335d was amazing as an all rounder, comfort, economy, looks etc. I really loved the car and wouldn't have sold it if it wasn't for my parking situation.

Things to consider before purchasing:
  • Spec, I wouldn't buy one without H/K Audio, folding mirrors, Pro nav (m sport 435d already has this equipped) This is subjective but it can help with resale.
  • Timing chain & bearings, depending on the mileage, I would budget for bottom end bearings and timing chain if nearing the 100k mark. This is roughly a £3500 bill
  • Tyres - Being an X drive they can be fussy on tyre tread depths which can ruin the transfer case.
