Help Plug-ins - BMW 330e of Merc C-class 300de

With upto £24k availably, I am looking to buy a 2020/21 plate plug in hybrid, but can't decide between the BMW 330e M-sport (petrol plug in) or the Merc C-class 300de AMG Line (diesel plug in).
I regularly do 26 miles to and from work and i can charge at both locations, so phev seems to make the most sense to me. I don't need a big boot, but am concerned how small the saloons are.
I like a modern cabin, sporty looks, but comfort is key.. as I am in my 50s, I don't really push the car anymore, though i do like a swift overtake.
Reliability is important as are reasonable running costs. Will probably buy via on-line, so any buying guidance would be also useful, as I won't be test driving said vehicles.
