Hi all, I am hoping for some suggestions to help me out please.

I have seen a 4 year old GLC I like on Cinch, one owner and 46k but the only history they have for it is the service and MOT they did at the 4 year point in Nov 2024 at 46k miles when they received the car.

I have checked the MOT history of the vehicle and it shows first one at 34k miles in Nov 2023, so consistent with only owner doing about 11k a year.

Is there anyway to check with Mercedes if this has service history somewhere on their system, there are lots of different dealer groups but is there a central database?

Any help is much appreciated as my thinking is buying a Mercedes at 4 years old on 46k with no history of services is a large gamble?

Many thanks,

Scott.

You may be able to find this by calling a dealer, or central MB customer services, assuming privacy isn't cited as an obstacle.

Not MB... but VW Group brands allow back door access to the centrally-held records if you register as a "workshop", though this requires a VIN - which can be hard to obtain.

Cinch is an online front end for a behemoth of car sales and leasing. The Cinch brand offer is a simple online buying process for a wide range of stock, and the target market values this above all else.

My experience is that they generally serve up cosmetically lower grade cars with missing histories being common. The better grades presumably go to main dealer and via auction to independents whose business models are different.

You might be lucky and find a gem at Cinch, but I find this to be the exception.

Call your local MB dealer and tell them the car needs a service. Also ask them if car was previously serviced at any MB dealer. they can look up the history

Doesn't that age of vehicle have a digital service history, so will be viewable on the in-car entertainment system / dashboard?

Can the cinch dealer not look it up and provide photos?

Thanks for the replies.

I contacted MB direct and tried to get this. I also tried to think of another way and contacted MB warranty sales for a quote to extend the warranty but neither could access the data to see services even to sell me an extended warranty.

MB said I’d have to find the dealer who serviced it to check with them but that’s a large number.

I had tried to purchase other glc’s as authorised used cars but found dealers worse to deal with than car supermarkets.

Looks like I’ll give this one a miss as it’s possible it has done the first 46k on the same oil!

Noted what someone said above about Cinch stock however the authorised MB glc I went to view had a”missing parts, eg parcel shelf, Pirelli’s on the front and nexen on the rear and a missing service which they said they would make sure didn’t affect the warranty.

Thanks wasn’t aware you could view the digital history like you can on a bmw. Cinch said they had looked online somewhere but without specifying.
