So indecisive keep my mx5 or my recently bought civic ef
Discussion
So bought a civic ef about a month or so ago it needed a little work doing to it so it sat for a while rust wise it's pretty damn solid the person I bought it off stripped the car tbh and re did most of it. That being said the rear arches are a bit ripply where the works been done so now I'm a bit doubtful on the repairs longer term. I've always wanted one of these for years and I love the shape, Iove how it drives for a 90 HP d14 its pretty nippy.
The last 6 years now I've owned mk1 mx5s 3 to be exact this is the best one I've had to date no rust that's also been stripped and re done it truly is mint corns exhaust and Watanabe wheels and a few other cool parts. It's open diff and currently have an engine sitting in the garage for it it's pissing water out of rear and burning a ton of oil so I lost some love for it. Plus in all the years I've never drove one proper setup in terms of a fast road allignment etc.
Ones got to go and I'm so stuck it's painful to decide I've driven both been temp insuring the ef and Im so stuck lol I think regardless of my choice I'll regret it for a while but I could be really depressed if I lost my 5 later down the line. On one side I have the excitement of a new platform and trying something new and building it into my own car where the 5 was mostly done although id change a few bits so it never really felt mine.
Other hand get the 5 tip top and go from there first purchase being an LSD, if I could keep both I genuinely would but I can't Im guessing there may be a few here that have let something go and still regret it to this day.

I would keep the Civic. The wishbone suspension gives them superb cornering and feedback, they are a whole bunch of fun on a twisty back road, and although all round visibility may not be as good as a roof down mx5, it is much better than an mx5 with the roof up. It is also a lot more practical.
If you get rid of the Civic and regret it, it will be extremely difficult to get another, as mk4s are getting very rare, whereas mx5 are as common as Stan Ogden.

Yeah for the last 6 years or so I've only owned mx5s so it could be good for a change I took it out yesterday 4 of us in it was a right laugh, but as a practical car it is allot better. It's currently on the good old max speeding rods which are terrible so it got me thinking how good it could handle with much better suspension, tyres, allignment etc.If you get rid of the Civic and regret it, it will be extremely difficult to get another, as mk4s are getting very rare, whereas mx5 are as common as Stan Ogden.
I'm one that actually regrets letting a good Mk1 go that I nursed back to health.
I sold it to help fund an Elise itch but now the Elise is for sale. I actually preferred the MX just because it was far more useable and enjoyable.
I'm thinking of another as they get under your skin once owned.
