Having a holiday in the US and bringing a car back

Hello all.
At some point in the next eight years I am planning to bring a car to the UK that was never sold here (at least as it looks/ is badged there)
I was thinking it would be nice to take the family, spend a week or two driving round then fly home and let the car follow in due course.
As I am in no immediate hurry I was wondering whether buying it before we go, putting it in to storage but registered in my name there might be of benefit or if I would be best to just buy it when we fly out there.
Car is roughly 2002/3 and sub £10k in value if that makes any difference.
Do any of you have any particular advice or suggestions on the best plan please?

‘Buying it when we fly out there’ for a week’s holiday sounds like you’ll spend at least a day of your holiday in a garage forecourt.
Picking it up out of storage before going on holiday?
Are you already working there regularly/rotationally in some capacity?
Best put us out our misery and tell us what motor.

The registration can be addressed by setting up a company to register the car to in Montana, there are services that can do this for you.
It's what I was planning to do for a future project/road trip.
But be warned that it's an approach commonly used to avoid sales tax by people living in certain states, and as such those states treat Montana plates with suspicion.

How can they do it without a US address ?Would be very interested in a 'legal' and reliable way of doing this as I would like to do a 3 month road trip and it would actually be cheaper (in theory) to buy a car than rent one.

Thank you for the comments ref Montana. I’d be ideally purchasing the car somewhere in the South so it’d be a bit of a trek to move the car up there then back.
I do have friends in Arizona so it might be an idea for them to buy the car and then me buy it from them when I travel.
The car is one that was only sold in the US/Canada but is not an American car. It is a bit of an oddity that is based on a Japanese car but badged as something else… if you fancy doing some sleuthing !

Have a bit of a search around and you'll find a few articles on the mechanics of it, and companies offering the service.

It the friends bought the car, wouldn't be easier to leave it in their name while you use in the US? Then you just have to sort out an insurance policy to drive their car.
