A friend has a Peugeot e-208 and wanted to upgrade to a new one. A new one is £35k. But you can buy them for around £20k thanks to Peugeot pre-registering them to avoid the big penalties. Blimey. (for reference the cars were at Arnold Clarke).

It's not the only pre reg option with massive discount, there are 23 of these listed;

I don't think they have much choice.

A new Renault 5 can be had for not too much more than £20k.

It's a much cooler looking car than the 208. No way is anyone paying over £30k for the Pug these days.

Don't those Mazda's have a real world range under 100miles? It was poor back when Honda E was released in 2019(?), let alone a new car in 2024...

Range us woeful on the mx30. I sat on one last week. Nice enough up front but the suicide rear doors are very impractical. They do a range extender version with an 800cc rotary engine to power the battery. Meant to be much better but its a no from me.

Thread's an eye-opener for me, I haven't been paying attention and thought a half decent electric car was £35k+

e208 just like the identical Vauxhall Corsa is a very cramped car, especially in the back seats.
Don’t buy one if you intend to take people in the back seats on a regular basis.

Vaux Corsa is at the smaller end of the current offerings of superminis, which will suit some people and not others. You're right, its cramped in the back, probably okay for kids though.

Not been in the back of a gen 2 208

Same. I thought new cars these days were mega money. These sound reasonable

Sit in one first - horrible little cars. I'm 6'1" and couldn't get the drivers seat back far enough, it felt very cramped. It looks alright but these things are pretty basic.

Good advice
Try one out

Compared to the previous shape Corsa / 208; the latest one is tiny inside

Well, it says 107kW - that's the motor power.

It also says 35.5kWh - that's the battery.

So here's a silly question. Does that mean if you took the Mazda to an oval and drove it flat out, worst case you could empty the battery in 20 minutes?

I guess so (ish) - there's a YouTube video where they ran a Leaf around Milbrook flat out and I think it lasted less than 10 mins, and it was only that long as it slowed itself down as the battery ran down.

Dunno about that but I had one for a few days and I'm the same height and found it perfectly fine in the front.

Didn't like the floating 3d like dash graphics and a few too many scratchy plastics but seemed a decent little thing with not a bad turn of speed.
