I posted recently about looking for a 7 seater, circumstances have changed a little and that’s not happening anymore but I’m still looking for a new car.

No 1 favourite is a 2009 Mercedes E220 Avantgarde Estate.
2.1L
Automatic Transmission
99,000 miles
£385 tax
For sale at £2,695

Dealer offered me pretty much a straight swap for mine now so no cost to buy. Anybody got any knowledge of these? Ownership costs and reliability etc…

Thanks!

That price sounds very cheap to me, suspiciously cheap even.

I would be very wary unless there is an obvious reason why its so cheap.

MOT until February 26, couple of advisories but nothing super concerning. Not listed as categorised that I can see, haven’t bought a full history check as I’m not sure if I’m buying it yet.
Couple of bits of paint fade around the body work, no obvious signs of damage or anything. Mileage appears to be legit

Yeah definitely way too cheap, should be £4000+ retail. Sure, do your checks, but there must be a reason its being given away.

As above, do your checks as that's silly cheap.

A straight swap? Either the dealer is desperate to get rid of the Merc or yours is worth more and they can smell a decent return. Either way, sounds a bit suspicious.

Presumably this one

That’s so far under market value it’s almost comical. Approach with great caution, could be a bargain but it almost has to have something seriously wrong with it at that price.

Nothing obvious showing up on a history check though.

Offered a straight swap on a massively underpriced merc from a dealer in Bradford?

And it's a diesel that's done 25k miles in 10 years?

Good luck, OP, I presume you'll ignore the red flags and go for it anyway.

Yes, Mr. Shahbaram Shahbaraz Rehman using a Mail Boxes Etc correspondence address in Bradford definitely inspires maximum confidence that it'll be a great car and will uphold his car dealer legal obligations when the engine seizes on the M62. smile

The number of times that has been clocked, you’d expect the OBD port to be worn smooth never mind the steering wheel biggrin

Thanks all. Appreciate all the responses. Pretty much exactly why I came to the forums 👍 Had to wait a while before I could post again (website rules).

As much as I’d like to change the car I’m not in a rush, won’t be taking a deal on anything that doesn’t seem right! The search continues…

Don’t be afraid to travel for the right motor. Yes it will cost time and money, but those costs won’t be as bad as buying a local dog.
