Since my 335d has officially been written off , it’s now a cat S after it came head on to a calf at circa 60mph
I have got my settlement number through
I have up to 41k to spend
I like RS4 circa 2018 onwards
I think my preference is for a X3M competition but am I missing anything else

Funny story ,
It was a calf
Apparently I am at fault accordingly to insurance company which begins with a E and ends in a e as canny probe the farmer failed to secure his beast ! Even after the police had to get a farmer to remove the dead beast from the dual carriageway

Not a fan of the Alfa , if the Maserati Levante V8 was in range be tempted with that

Did you have veal for dinner?

Anyway, X3M is lovely, but quite different to the RS4. Apart from 41k, what are you requirements?

Holy dogs dirt that looks like some impact. The X3M competition is cool but why don’t you consider bangernomics ? Put £39k in the bank and go around in an old Vectra estate or something.

Unfortunately the police was on scene before I could do carving and then getting a lift home form the cops would have gave that away

Good sized boot , reasonable economy , modern cabin
The M340i fills that well but I had the 335d from new ( 11 years) so fancy a change

I was in a similar predicament 6 months ago with the same budget.
I was looking at the X3M but after several test drives, I found it a very harsh ride, especially here on the roads in Aberdeenshire.
I then test drove a X340i with all the options I required, far better and saved a few quid! Fewer miles, newer and plenty quick enough for my needs.

I have heard the X3M is harsh and the local Aberdeen roads are diabolical state and it’s playing on my mind a bit
Hence thoughts of the RS4
Jag SVR is considered but none local to test , similarly the Macan turbo / turbo performance or a gts

I think the RS4 could be worse than the X3M in this regard if road surfaces are your concern. I certainly don’t believe it will be any better. Both great cars though.

I wouldn’t put any considerable amount of money into a Jaguar whilst they’re in their current situation.

BMW M5?

Competition spec seem to be creeping into budget if there is room to haggle

I'd personally have a Macan or F-pace SVR over the X3M purely on the topic of ride quality/comfort.

M550i over an M5 for everyday usage.

Lexus RCF?

Happy shopping!

The M5 did cross my mind , it’s the lowest insurance between that rs4 X3m and a m340i
Similar to a E63 but I don’t like the Mercedes gear change stick thing

The Macan turbo performance could be a good compromise and leaves me some money to change her car too

You're lucky to get out of that uninjured!

As said above, I'd look at Macan GTS, just may mean travelling to see a good one.
